 Starting May 7, 2025, all U.S. travelers flying domestically will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable form of ID (like a passport) to pass through airport security. REAL IDs are issued by your state’s DMV and usually have a star in the top corner.

If you don’t have one yet, be sure to check your state’s requirements and make an appointment to update your ID in time for upcoming travel.

 All travelers, including children, need a valid passport to leave and re-enter the United States. Processing times can take several weeks, so be sure to apply early. Check the expiration date, too—many countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.

 TSA PreCheck is a trusted traveler program that helps you move through airport security faster and with less hassle. Approved travelers enjoy shorter lines and don’t need to remove shoes, belts, laptops, or liquids during screening.

Enrollment requires an online application and a short in-person appointment. Once approved, membership lasts 5 years and can save valuable time on every trip.

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved travelers entering the United States. Members skip long passport control lines by using automated kiosks at select airports.

Global Entry also includes TSA PreCheck, making it a great option for frequent international and domestic travelers. Membership is valid for 5 years.
